As fabricated, custom-made, tooth-shaped coverings that encase the whole tooth, crowns require a two-stage appointment and follow the same protocol as porcelain veneers.

How many appointments do I need?

For dental crowns, generally you will need three appointments with us once you have decided to go ahead. At the first appointment, we will take photos, prepare your teeth and do impressions or a scan to send off to our skilled local laboratory. We will then arrange for you to see the ceramist who will be making your crowns, to capture shade photos. A couple of weeks later, an appointment will be made with us (sometimes the ceramist may also attend) for a “try-in” to check that you are happy with the shape, shade and look. Following this, a week or so later, we will get you back in to have your crowns cemented in place.
