What is the process for getting Invisalign?

Book a consultation with Dr Dominic Etheridge to discuss everything about Invisalign and see if it can help you! If you would like to take the next step, we book an appointment with our Oral Health Therapists to take a 3D scan, photos and an x-ray. These records will then be submitted to Invisalign so they can prepare a treatment plan. Usually within a week Invisalign will provide a treatment simulation called a Clincheck and you will be able to view the stages and possible end result of your treatment. We will also include a detailed treatment quote. To continue the process we book a second appointment with Dominic to discuss your Clincheck, treatment options, costs and payment plans. To go ahead with Invisalign you pay a 50% deposit and we order your aligners. A few weeks later you can start your journey to straight teeth with your first set of aligners!

How does Invisalign work?

When you begin your Invisalign treatment you will receive several sets of custom fit aligners. Each set of aligners is worn for only two weeks. After two weeks you can switch your aligners with the next set. Over time you will notice changes in the alignment of your teeth, and in just a few months you will have a straighter, healthier smile!

How much does it cost to get Invisalign?

Is Invisalign covered by Private Health?

If you have orthodontic cover with your health fund you may be eligible to claim on your receipt. Most funds have a lifetime orthodontic limit as well as an annual limit and payment options can differ. Some health funds will pay through the HICAPS machine at the office while others only pay upon receipt. Please check if you have cover (a waiting period can apply) and how your cover works.

What is Orthodontics?

Orthodontics is a specialty field of dentistry that deals primarily with the diagnosis, prevention and correction of incorrectly positioned teeth and jaws.

Our team recommends an orthodontic assessment as early as age seven. By identifying early airway problems such as poor tongue position, enlarged tonsils and adenoids and early non-nutritive habits such as thumb sucking, our team can intercept and correct the underlying disorder leading to the jaw imbalance and crooked teeth. Early treatment can often prevent the need for extraction of teeth due to our abilities to modify the underlying bone and create more room for the teeth. How do I get started?

At your initial appointment Dr Dominic Etheridge will take diagnostic records, give you a referral for bulk-billed x-rays and discuss how orthodontics may work for you. A few weeks later you will have a second appointment with a treatment planning presentation to discuss your orthodontic options. How long is treatment?

How long does it take to get straight teeth with Invisalign?

Everyone is different and the time it takes to straighten your teeth depends on your starting and finishing points! Lots of aligners will take longer than a few months, but if you keep your teeth clean and healthy, and wear your aligners as much as possible you can shorten the time it takes. Your dentist will let you know how often you can change your aligners, generally it’s between 1 to 2 weeks.
