Sedation (Sleep) Dentistry

Nervous about visiting the dentist? It’s time to #openup

Let’s drill down to a reality many people experience, all over the world. Visiting the dentist can be more than just a nuisance – it can make you really scared or anxious. In the worse cases there’s actually a name for it – dentophobia.

So relax – you’re not alone.

To get the bottom of why we think these things, we asked everyday people in Claremont, Nedlands, Subiaco and surrounds to #openup about their fears. Here’s what we found out.

You:

  1. Put off going to the dentist because of your fears

  2. Worry about it being painful

  3. Are scared of needles

  4. Are embarrassed about your teeth

  5. Feel shame, guilt or loss of self-esteem.

Ok, so now we know why you’re accidentally ‘missing’ appointments! But seriously, dental visits are super important – and so is your health and happiness. That’s why we’re on a mission to make you less tense at the dentist.

How can we help you?

Dr Dominic Etheridge and his team of caring, experienced assistants offer a patient-centred approach that focuses on helping you feel calm and confident about going to the dentist by overcoming anxiety, phobias or fears. Dr Etheridge sets aside plenty of time for you to air your concerns about what makes you feel uncomfortable, including any previous stressful experiences.

You’ll be amazed what happens when you #openup – we’ll return the favour too. From there, we can set out common goals to help tailor your treatment and create a beautiful, confident and healthy smile.

Remember, we’re not here to judge you or the condition of your teeth – we just want to help.

Sedation Dentistry

Did you know that conscious sedation is widely used as a means of reducing anxiety during dental procedures? At Claremont Dental, we offer all three types of conscious sedation: intravenous, inhalation and oral sedation. They can be used for a full range of dental procedures including oral surgery and wisdom tooth removal, implant placement and longer, more complex restorative procedures.
